Removo10/5/2023 Great for creativity, filming kids, dogs, other subjects at their height. Can shoot at any level (ground to as high up one can reach). This is pretty good (in fact, better than any phone gimbal i ever tried) although there's a slight jerking motion in some situations, which hasn't been much of a problem though (yet). (2) shoots 4k and pretty slick looking slow motion. The screen is integrated and is not protruding much. This one obviously has gimbal stabilization, is compact enough to fit in pockets, and even has a locking mechanism so that feels sturdy as one piece when stored in the provided pouch inside my pocket, rather than just a bunch of moving fragile parts like my other gimbal which doesn't even fit in a pocket. I was contemplating DJI Osmo (+) acquisition for some time now, but from the first glance i immediately knew that i would end up not using it just like my phone gimbal for the same reason - it is too cumbersome to set up and/or carry. On the other hand, my 4k phone is compact, but is not convenient to hold for a longer time, or to shoot at levels other than eye level, and the shake is most discouraging. I don't even use my phone gimbal, same reason - it is cumbersome to carry, has a long setup time. Reason being, i can't carry that anywhere with ease. I have sony a7Riii but i don't use it for video. I am not going to shoot any sort of public/client stuff with it. Keep in mind, i am a casual user, just for making memories inside my family and related events. I only compiled a couple of short footages so far, but overall impressions are positive for my use.

Desserts with cinnamon toast crunch10/5/2023 Christina worked at Momofuku and she challenged herself to create a standout dessert. Milk Bar is the sister bakery of David Chang’s Momofuku restaurant group. She is also said to carry around cookie dough and desserts in her pocket, so of course I immediately developed a girl crush on her! She is a woman after my own sweet tooth! To give you a quick run down, Christina Tosi is the badass lady chef that founded the popular Milk Bar. To take such an aha moment with cereal and turn it into an empire is what dreams are made of. The passion and dedication she has for her craft is incredible. Christina Tosi is a girl boss in every way and she inspires budding chefs like me to the core. I have been wanting to do a cereal infused dessert ever since I binge watched A Chef’s Table on Netflix. And there is something about Cinnamon Toast Crunch that is creamy, crunchy, sweet and toasty all at the same time And when I take a bite, to this day, I am brought back to my childhood love for this cereal. As I mentioned in my Chai Cinnamon Rolls and Coconut Milk Cinnamon Rolls, I have a serious Cinnamon obsession. I have always been a cinnamon sugar obsessed Gal. That was the “fun” cereal that my Mom let us get once in awhile between all of Corn Flakes and Raisin Bran. If you are anything like me, I grew up loving Cinnamon Toast Crunch. This is the perfect cake for cinnamon lovers for Easter brunch or anytime a cinnamon craving hits! And if you love Milkbar and Christina Tosi, then you will have so much fun making this cake! Each component of the cake includes cinnamon toast crunch in some way. This cake is buttery, with soft and flavorful cake and crunchy, cinnamon layers. Then a crunchy, buttery, cinnamon toast crunch streusel topping finishes it off. You can find this treat at any major grocery store, and they sell for $4-5, depending on the store.Cinnamon Toast Crunch Cake begins with a tender, cereal infused vanilla cake which is filled with a rich brown sugar, cereal, and cinnamon mixture. Although the company has a lot of competition in the frozen food section, I am surprised for the lack of hype over this gooey cinnamon-sugar bite. The treat has been out since the summer of 2017, but the sugary bite has not gained much buzz. The recommended serving size is 4 bites for 180 calories or 45 calories per Cinnamon Toast Crunch Bite, which is mind-blowing considering how scrumptious this delectable dessert is. The bites cooked in the oven are a little crunchier than the bites from the microwave, but they both taste irresistibly sweet and yummy. Regardless of oven or microwave, the bite basically ends up the same. If you're a cool cat that lives on their own time table and is never in a hurry, you can warm these bites in the oven for 8 minutes at 350º F. This glorious sugar bomb goes straight from the freezer to the microwave (20 seconds) and to your mouth. Hanger (hungry-anger) can be quickly resolved with this in your freezer. The best part of this Cinnamon Toast Crunch Bite is the ease. The texture of the bite itself is slightly denser than a donut, but the filling has the consistency of icing, and it oozes from the center of the donut when warm. The donut tastes exactly like a snickerdoodle, and I have zero complaints. The Cinnamon Toast Crunch Bite is essentially a cinnamon flavored donut hole with a gooey, cinnamon filling. Now, Cinnamon Toast Crunch has found a way to turn that sugary leftover milk into a dessert with their Cinnamon Toast Crunch Bites. We grew up begging our parents to buy the jumbo box, eating the cereal, and slurping down the sweetened leftover milk from the bowl. We all know Cinnamon Toast Crunch cereal. Molecular chaperone systems10/4/2023 coli, the chaperonin system is called GroEL/GroES, while its eukaryotic analog is called Hsp60.Ī misfolded protein is captured by hydrophobic interactions with the exposed surface of the opening. If folding does not occur rapidly enough, the polypeptide may bind again, and the process is repeated until the protein is folded into its native conformation.Īlternatively, a fully synthesized and partially folded polypeptide may be delivered to a chaperonin.Ĭhaperonins are large barrel-shaped protein complexes that provide an isolated chamber for protein folding, with one half of the symmetric barrel operating on a client protein at a time. Next, ATP binds the complex again inducing the dissociation of hsp70 and releasing the bound polypeptide, allowing it a chance to re-fold. As a result, parts of hsp70 come together like jaws, trapping the unfolded protein inside. The hsp70 machinery often acts before the protein leaves the ribosome, with each ATP-bound monomer recognizing a small stretch of hydrophobic amino acids on a protein’s surface.Ī set of smaller hsp40 proteins interacts with this complex and triggers ATP hydrolysis. Such patches on different protein molecules can bind to each other, leading to irreversible protein aggregation.Ĭhaperones recognize these exposed hydrophobic patches and prevent protein aggregation, facilitating the folding of the proteins. In misfolded proteins, hydrophobic patches are exposed. In a correctly folded protein, hydrophobic patches are buried in the interior. Of the several types of molecular chaperones found in prokaryotes and eukaryotes, the two major families are the heat shock proteins - hsp70 and hsp60. As they are synthesized in the cell, most proteins do not fold spontaneously into their native conformation but require a special class of proteins called chaperones to help fold them. Along with the closure, millions of colors in the shape of confetti danced through the air like the thousands of people below. With relevant lyrics in the chorus, “Pork Soda” brought out the fans’ props and suddenly pineapples started emerging from the crowd, from a pool float to pineapple shaped paper lanterns, in addition to the real pineapple a stage crew member brought out to sit on stage prior to the show. Set on a stage to mirror an outdoor pool area in a hotel from the 80’s, the band started the show with “Life Itself,” the opening track to their second LP How To Be A Human Being and closing with “Pork Soda” off of the same album. Glass Animals played their set featuring songs from all three of their albums, and the audio mixers made sure you felt the drums and bass in your chest. Honestly, I wouldn’t be surprised if that rang true, as a near fully packed Credit Union 1 Arena was dancing and singing along to almost every lyric while neon colors lit up the scenery and confetti cannons took up real estate above the crowd. Playin' too much of that GTA Playin' too much of that Dr. Vox lux10/4/2023 School shootings have loomed large in America’s collective imagination for the last 20 years, and it’s likely no coincidence that this film’s massacre takes place in the same year as Columbine. “Vox Lux” is a powerful, haunting film in part because Portman is a powerful, haunting presence - you can’t turn away from her, even if you occasionally want to. It’s a horrific sequence, coming out of nowhere and filmed in such a way that puts you closer to the violence than you’d ever want to be this is Celeste’s life, and for the next two hours it’s also ours. The film begins in 1999, at which time a 13-year-old Celeste is in music class when a classmate opens fire in her classroom, killing several and leaving her with a spinal injury that will cause her pain for the rest of her days. To call “Vox Lux” a pop-star drama would falsely suggest that it in any way resembles “A Star Is Born” or is at all interested with the music industry, especially when you learn, in its opening minutes, what compels our heroine to start singing in the first place. Her name is no coincidence: As explained by the narrator (whose identity remains best left unspoiled), Celeste comes from the Latin word for “heavenly” and, in her case, signifies that her fate may have been written in the stars. Natalie Portman stars as the mononymous Celeste, a pop star whose musical stylings were composed by Sia, with a supporting cast led by Jude Law and Stacy Martin. The reason why: He chose to step behind the camera rather than in front of it, making one of the most impressive debut features in recent memory with 2015’s “The Childhood of a Leader.” Corbet won two prizes at Venice for his haunting look at a future totalitarian’s early years, and returns to the Lido in highly ambitious form with “ Vox Lux.” The actor seemed to be in every arthouse favorite of 2014, with supporting roles in everything from “Clouds of Sils Maria” and “Eden” to “Force Majeure” and “While We’re Young,” but he hasn’t so much as made a cameo in the four years since. Featuring original songs by Sia, an original score by Scott Walker, and a transcendent performance by Natalie Portman, personifying and pummeling the zeitgeist, Vox Lux is an origin story about the forces that shape us, as individuals, nations, and gods. There was a time when you could barely see a movie without catching a glimpse of Brady Corbet. In Brady Corbet's second feature, following his 2015 breakout debut The Childhood of a Leader - winner of the Best Director and Best Debut Film prizes at the Venice Film Festival - Celeste becomes a symbol of the cult of celebrity and the media machine in all its guts, grit and glory. Touring in support of her sixth album, a compendium of sci-fi anthems entitled Vox Lux, the indomitable, foul-mouthed pop savior must overcome her personal and familial struggles to navigate motherhood, madness and monolithic fame in the Age of Terror. By 2017, adult Celeste (Natalie Portman) is mounting a comeback after a scandalous incident that derailed her career. Celeste's meteoric rise to fame and concurrent loss of innocence dovetails with a shattering terrorist attack on the nation, elevating the young powerhouse to a new kind of celebrity: American icon, secular deity, global superstar. After singing at a memorial service, Celeste transforms into a burgeoning pop star with the help of her songwriter sister (Stacy Martin) and a talent manager (Jude Law). In 1999, teenage Celeste (Raffey Cassidy) survives a violent tragedy. The film spans 18 years and traces important cultural moments through her eyes, starting in 1999 and concluding in 2017. Vox Lux follows the rise of Celeste from the ashes of a major national tragedy to pop super stardom. Octavia e butler historical fiction10/4/2023 (In fact, Butler flirted with the idea that she might be gay or bisexual, but ultimately decided that she was “a hermit” rather than someone seeking romance of any kind.) She was a large, Black woman in a society that demonized being large, Black, or a woman, and although she enjoyed being alone, her sense of rejection never left. This, along with her tallness-she would grow to six feet-made her easy fodder for schoolyard bullies. Classmates teased her about her voice, which had a notably deep, even masculine, rumble. She was painfully shy, and, as she grew older, she developed insecurities about her body that would linger. If the world of science fiction seemed lonely for someone like Butler, real life seemed lonelier still. Fittingly, “Nightfall” (1941), one of Asimov’s seminal short stories, contained no women beyond passing references to them as child-breeders or siblings. “Notice, too, that many top-notch, grade-A, wonderful, marvelous, etc., etc., authors get along swell without any women, at all,” he declared in another from 1939. “When we want science-fiction, we don’t want swooning dames,” he scoffed in one letter. Twenty years earlier, the sci-fi writer Isaac Asimov had gone so far as to declare, in a series of sneering letters in Astounding Science Fiction, that women had no place in such stories at all, as they were only there for “romance,” and he, like serious authors of his ilk, had no time for such expendable narrative distractions. White men filled both its ranks of authors and their stories. “I can write a better story than that.” Ironically, this abysmal film became partly responsible for reshaping the world of American sci-fi, inspiring Butler to compose narratives that forever changed what was possible in the genre.īut it wouldn’t be easy, because in the 1960s, science fiction-which had risen in popularity as a distinct category throughout the twentieth century-was a field that rarely included anyone who looked like Butler. The year before, she had watched Devil Girl from Mars, a 1954 science-fiction B movie, and its remarkable mediocrity had astonished the writer in her. “In all my thirteen years,” she wrote, “I had never read a printed word that I knew to have been written by a Black person.” Still, this dearth did not dissuade her if anything, it made her want to have her writing published even more fervently.Īnd not just any writing, but science fiction, which she began to submit that same year to a slew of magazines. As she later admitted in “Positive Obsession,” an autobiographical essay from 1989, her aunt’s reaction led her to realize something startling. For years, Butler had yearned to be a writer it had never occurred to her before her aunt’s casual dismissal that her very identity might complicate things. “Honey,” her aunt sighed, “Negroes can’t be writers.” “Well, that’s nice, but you’ll have to get a job, too.” Butler insisted she would write full time. She was sitting at her aunt’s kitchen table, watching her cook. Butler told her aunt that she wanted to be a writer when she grew up. ONE DAY IN 1960, when she was thirteen, Octavia E.
